Rare cancers aren't so rare
More than 3.5 million people in Russia suffer from oncological diseases, of which 700 thousand suffer from rare tumors. About 600 thousand new cases of tumours are diagnosed in Russia annually, of which 126 thousand are rare. According to the WHO, there are 198 such rare pathologies. They account for more than 20% of all tumours.
According to the definition used in the European Union, rare tumours are tumours with an incidence of less than 6 people per 100,000 of the population per year, while, according to the domestic definition, rare tumors are tumors with an incidence of less than 10 people per 100,000. population per year.
Due to the lack of information, knowledge and accumulated experience due to the impossibility of conducting large randomized studies, the problem of studying rare tumors remains open to this day.
